Michael
Budden is a nationally known artist living and working in his native
New Jersey. Already known as a fine wildlife artist, his numerous
honors and awards include paintings in three museum collections.
Becoming dissatisfied with staying in the studio, Mike has taken to
"plein air painting". Painting direct from nature. The artist
states: "From this new approach to painting directly out in nature,
the viewer gets to see the end result of what truly inspires me to
paint. The battle over time and technique is clearly evident in the
final product. Each critical decision and brushstroke leaves a positive
or negative impact on the painting. I find this very exciting."
Michael's new landscape and seascape paintings are attracting critical
acclaim at major exhibitions, in galleries and by collectors alike.
His paintings exhibit strong composition, an exquisitite quality of
light and confident brushwork. Recent awards include two time winner
of the "Arthur T. Hill Memorial Award" for the best landscapeby
an artist 45 years or younger at the presitigious Salmagundi Club,
New York, NY. His paintings can be seen in many galleries along the
east coast.

"Michael
Budden has been an exhibiting Artist Member of the Salmagundi
Club in New York City since 1999, and his oil paintings have
graced the walls of nearly every exhibit held since he joined
the Club. For a number of years he submitted m ostly bucolic
rural scenes marked by a graceful and elegiac style. From his
riverbanks to his country farms, these landscapes won numerous
awards and were very popular in both the Club Auctions and and
the annual Thumb-Box Exhibition. Recently Michael has begun
to show New York City street and park scenes, and this new work
is a departure and very exciting. He has a gift for capturing
light so clearly that it defines a moment in time and space
that is evocatively real. So good is his new work that his "Flatiron"
oil painting was awarded the Salmagundi Club Purchase Prize,
and it will be added to the Club's Permanent Collection. The
Salmagundi Club is honored to have such a fine artist among
its roster of exceptional painters."
